Goa located along the western coast of India is famous for its collection of picturesque beaches. It is, in fact, the country’s most popular seaside resort for golden sandy shores; listed are the best.
1. Querim Beach
This beach is the last on the northern stretch of Goa, also known as Kerim Beach. The shore is quite close to Tiracol Fort a heritage site from past colonial times when Goa was under Portuguese rule. This is quite a scenic beach framed by swaying palm trees. In the early hours of the morning, the beach is lined with local fishing boats ready to set sail only to return the next morning. Although not safe for swimming the beach is popular for sports such as paragliding.
2. Arambol Beach
A beautiful beach framed by cliffs and a freshwater lake, Arambol Beach is well serviced by local markets. Tipped to be one of the best in Goa this still unspoiled shore is surrounded by a traditional fisher village. Enjoy the Bohemian ambiance and holiday atmosphere that prevails there. The cove style beach is home to several small bays. The lake is popular for its hot springs and sulfurous mud; hence you are bound to come across mud-covered hippies hoping to experience the curative powers of the mud springs. In fact, this beach is coined to be the capital of Goa’s hippie culture and is well known for nighttime beach parties.
3. Majorda Beach
A beautiful stretch of pristine white sand beach greets you here. The sea surrounding Majorda is quite calm while the water is clean and highly conducive to swimming. The beach in December is best known for its Goa Christmas Carnival which harkens back to Portuguese times.
4. Betalbatim Beach
Located just 10kms from Margao Beach this location is a must-visit for the best sightseeing in Goa. From Betalbatim Beach you can take on dolphin spotting tours and explore hidden beaches located off the beaten track. Investigate the pine tree framed surroundings and discover hidden beaches, wine and dine on excellent seafood and experience a part of Goa that is far from mundane ‘touristy’ environs.
5. Bogmalo Beach
A harmonious balance of natural environs and a commercial hub takes place at Bogmalo Beach. The long stretch of sandy shore is framed by a large number of touristy souvenir shops selling a variety of local handicrafts.
